Railway Asset SCanning (RASC®)
Our Technology
Our Railway Asset SCanning (RASC®) service delivers comprehensive track inspections using modular, small-footprint sensors. These can be mounted on a customer’s rail-bound or road-rail vehicle or deployed via our RASC® POD.
THE RASC® SENSOR SUITE
Integrated Sensor Suite for Smarter Track Insights
Zetica’s compact, easily mountable sensor suite provides a unique, integrated view of the track and its surrounding environment — all in a single pass. Combining multiple sensor technologies, our system delivers actionable insights to support efficient maintenance and asset management.
Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
- Ballast fouling levels
- Clean ballast thickness
- Trackbed thickness
- Areas of formation failure
- Ballast pockets
- Moisture likelihood
Mobile Terrestrial Laser Scanner (MLTS)
- Surface ballast profile
- Track drainage
- Digital terrain context
- Structure & passing clearance
- Vegetation encroachment
- Centreline & asset mapping
- Track geometry
Linescan Cameras (LSC)
- Surface mud spots & ballast particle size
- Sleeper spacing and angularity
- Sleeper type & condition
- Asset mapping – fastener clips, turnouts, rail wear
Accelerometers
- Vertical & lateral ride comfort
- Inertial track geometry
- Relative track stiffness
